May was probably the busiest month of my life. I traveled to Los Angeles to shoot my collaborative clothing line with Something By Sonjia. By the way, the Cargo Skirt from our collection, that sold out in 1 day is being restocked TODAY! Get it here before it sells out again. I headed to New York for 3 back to back jobs with Kate Spade, Mugler Fragrances and Michael Kors. I headed back to Miami Beach to celebrate my birthday with a yacht day and a day at Nikki Beach. I had another event with Farmacy Beauty and another job with One Medical. Every day of May was filled to the brim with work and some play but I definitely needed a break afterward. So when it was time for me to relax and rejuvenate, I wanted to book a luxurious stay some place I’d never stayed before and The Miami Edition Hotel was at the top of my list. I’d been to the hotel several times for brand dinners with Hennessy Moet as well as Swim Week afterparties in their basement which houses a bowling alley and skating ring. I also recently had a Naturopathica Massage in one of their bungalow suites and that’s what solidified this as the place for me to experience a luxurious staycation.
THE ACCOMMODATIONS
I went with a King Bungalow Ocean Front Room and am so happy I did. I was in room 451 and this will be my new home anytime I feel the need to have a getaway. Waking up to the beautiful sunrise on the twinkling ocean as the palm tree leaves dance in the light calmed my spirit and left me grateful to be alive every morning. My room had a huge wrap around terrace with a large day bed for me to enjoy. I also love that it was covered because even if it rained I could still enjoy the outdoors. Then there was the actual room which was more like an apartment with a massive bathroom with excellent light for doing my makeup and a separate closet with a full length mirror. I wasn’t expecting a full length mirror because most hotels, no matter how luxury they are, seem to have them. But the mirror in this suite was huge and perfect for me to do my outfit of the day looks in. There was also a massive soaking tub, as well as a mini bar and table for working. I felt right at home.
FOOD & FUN
The Miami Edition Hotel has a ton of things to do and it gets pretty lively on the weekends. The main restaurant is Matador Room which is stunning. There’s an indoor and outdoor portion as well as a bar which features live music on the weekends. Of course they also have a club downstairs with a bowling alley, bar and skating ring. There are 2 pools as well as the beach club right on the ocean front. There’s also an outdoor bar right by the pool. You really never have to leave the hotel if you don’t want to. There’s complimentary coffee in the lobby every morning too. Even if you’re not staying at the hotel, definitely make your way to Matador Room for dinner. The arroz con pollo is one of my favorite dishes and everything on the menu is tasty! I also really enjoyed the room service breakfast. I ordered the coconut, lavender and grapefruit pancakes every day because they were so fluffy and delicious. The beachfront at this hotel has a beautiful alcove of rocks too. I’d never seen anything like that on the beach and it makes for beautiful photos too. I’d like to point out the the hotel is very family friendly as well. In addition to restaurants, clubs and pools, they also have a gorgeous spa and store to buy products. I ended up buying the Le Labo x Miami Edition Tea Fragrance Body Lotion and Bath Salts. I’m already a huge fan of Le Labo and this custom scent is divine! There are also bikes to ride on a first come first serve basis.
CUSTOMER SEVICE
The customer service from the moment I got out of my car to the moment I got back in my car to leave was impeccable. I was offered 3 welcome drinks and my room was ready right at check in time. I was assisted with my bags and brought up a welcome bottle of wine once I was settled in my room. Every person I came in to contact with that worked at the hotel was nice and cheerful and accommodating. It really made me feel welcomed and like I picked the perfect place to relax and rejuvenate. I’d even forgotten my cell phone charger at home and was provided one. I also ran out of cotton wipes to remove my makeup and was provided with extra Vanity Kits for the bathroom. The customer service I received at The Miami Edition Hotel was stellar and another reason why I’d definitely do another staycation and recommend this hotel to any friends and family visiting town. It’s also pretty centrally located, close enough to the action of south beach but on the outskirts enough to feel like you’re in your own personal oasis and can enjoy a little peace and quiet.
WHAT I PACKED
For this staycation, I wanted simple pieces that could be reworn many different ways and went the luxe minimalism route. I packed classic black trousers, simple tops, a satin black dress, and various sandals. I’ll be composing a new YouTube video soon for a capsule vacation wardrobe but until then these are the pieces that got me through.
I can admit that I am somewhat of a workaholic because I really enjoy the work I do and it gives me a sense of purpose but I’ve definitely been neglecting myself. I’ve been slacking on my workouts and on my bike rides and on my me time. But I give myself grace because we all have these seasons. This staycation was much needed and completely rejuvenated me and gave me the rest I needed to get back in the game with a clearer head and more ideas. Even if you can’t leave your city for a vacation, you can alway check out the places around you for a relaxing staycation. Sometimes a change of scenery is all one needs to make a world of difference. So go ahead and book that staycation you’ve been needing. Your future self will thank you and the next time time you’re in Miami Beach, check out The Miami Edition.
